The used bookstore is located just inside the main entrance on the right. The bookstore usually opens when the library opens and closes half an hour before the library closes. The bookstore is staffed by The Friends of the Platt Library volunteers and may occasionally be closed during normal hours. All monies received from the sale of used books go towards improving the library.
Donations of saleable books, videos, books on cd's, CD's, and DVD's are accepted in the bookstore. If you have a large donation, please make an appointment to deliver them. The librarians always have first choice of using any donated material to augment the library's collections. All other books are sold in the used bookstore or donated to other groups in need. Magazines, encyclopedias, audio tapes, lp records, home recorded material, textbooks older than 10 years ,underlined, highlighted or annotated books. incomplete sets cannot be accepted. A receipt for tax purposes is available from the volunteer in the bookstore. Please do not leave donations outside of the library!
Donation Policy
We welcome donations of saleable books and other materials and will provide a donation receipt. All books must be in clean and undamaged condition. No writing, underlining, or highlighting in the text.
We do not accept:
- Encyclopedias
- Magazines
- LP records
- Audio tapes, video, VCR's
- Home recorded CD’s or DVD's
- Partial sets such as Time/Life, Readers Digest
- Textbooks older than 10 years
Donations larger than 6 boxes (or the equivalent) must be made by appointment with the bookstore manager,
We reserve the right to refuse donations that cannot be used in the library or the bookstore.
