About The Friends of the Platt Library

Serving The Local Community

The Friends of the Platt Library was established to bring awareness about the important role the library plays in our community and share with our following important dates of upcoming events and deadlines.

In addition, we strive to improve the quality of the programs and services offered at the library which include special guests, youth programs, and raising money the library desperately needs to continue with it's important mission of bringing the magic of books to people of all ages.

There are many ways you can help us. You can make a donation of books or media that we can share with others or sell to raise money for special projects, or you can make a monetary donation and choose how the money is spent or add to our discretionary fund.

We Can Always Use A Few More Friends

The Friends of the Platt Library support the library by donating materials and services not provided by the city. We also staff and run the used bookstore to raise funds which are used for special programs. We provide volunteers such as "GAB readers" to assist the library staff. We host community programs of general interest such as the "Books for Babies Outreach Program" at West Hills Hospital and we provide "Hot Off The Press" which is another one of our exciting programs.

Become A Member

We have several "Friend" memberships available starting as low as $10 per year and special memberships for businesses.

Make A Donation

We welcome donations in any amount but some donations include a commemorative bookplate and can be given as a tribute.

Visit The Bookstore

We have all types of items in the bookstore which you can purchase to help us raise funds, or you can donate your unused books and media.

Other Ways You Can Help

There are plenty of other ways you can help us improve our community

We are always looking for good ideas and suggestions. So, if you have an idea of how we can improve our community through the efforts here at the library, please let us know. We will carefully consider every idea submitted to us and if possible we will try to implement your idea.

1.)

Find new friends for the library. Community outreach is an important part of our fundraising effort. Be sure you let people know about what we're doing here.

2.)

Start a book drive in your neighborhood. You and your friends can go door-to-door or ask your friends and family members if they have any good books they are willing to donate.

3.)

Make a list of fun things to do. We have a links section on this website where we will list fun and educational things to do, especially if they are free of fun for the whole family.

If you haven't done so already, go online to Yelp and Google and find the listing for the Platt Library. You can then give us a 5-star rating and write a review that tells other people what you like about the library the most. This will help build recognition to our library and the projects we are working on. We have a great community and we can prove it by having the most and best reviews on the Internet! Don't give up. Tell your friends and family members to also go online and give us a nice review on both of those websites. It's fast and easy and can help us a lot. You can even go one step farther and include some pictures of the library or the surrounding area. Get creative. Every phone has a camera built-in now practically so it doesn't even take much extra effort. Find a nice place to stage an shot of perhaps some plant or a sunrise or sunset with the library in the picture. Anything like that would just be amazing! Thank you.
